Independent Oversight & Accountability

Holding Institutions to Account. Protecting Children.

PSAN is a community-led initiative investigating safeguarding failures across private schools, state institutions, and law enforcement — ensuring that those entrusted with the care of children answer for their conduct.

Make an Inquiry

What We Do

PSAN exists to ensure safeguarding serves the interests of children — not the convenience of institutions.

Independent Inquiries

We conduct rigorous, impartial investigations into safeguarding failures — examining how procedures were applied, whether protocols were followed, and whether the actions of professionals were lawful and proportionate.

Accountability

When teachers, school leaders, or institutional staff abuse their authority, make false statements, or weaponise safeguarding processes against families, we pursue every available measure — from formal complaints to supporting criminal prosecution.

Advocacy & Reform

We work to expose the gap between safeguarding rhetoric and institutional conduct. Too often, behaviour by education professionals that would be treated as criminal in any other context is allowed to continue without consequence. We aim to change that.

Our Mandate

Proportional safeguarding. Parental rights. Institutional transparency.

Safeguarding exists to protect children. Yet across the United Kingdom, safeguarding procedures are routinely deployed in ways that undermine parents, silence dissent, and shield institutions from scrutiny. When a teacher fabricates a concern, when a school uses referral processes to retaliate against a family, when law enforcement defers uncritically to institutional narratives — children are not made safer. They are placed at greater risk.

PSAN was established to confront this reality. We are a community initiative with a clear mandate: to investigate safeguarding failures wherever they occur — in private schools, state schools, local authorities, and the agencies tasked with oversight — and to take whatever steps are required to hold those responsible to account.

Our inquiries follow the evidence. Where that evidence reveals negligence, we seek institutional reform. Where it reveals dishonesty or abuse of process, we pursue professional sanctions. Where it reveals conduct that is criminal, we advocate for criminal prosecution.

We guard against censorship and institutional overreach. We believe parents have a fundamental right to challenge decisions made about their children — and that no institution should be permitted to operate safeguarding as a closed system, beyond the reach of accountability.
